This study examines how the phonetic structure of pseudowords influences their association with visual shapes within the Bouba–Kiki effect. It focuses on the roles of vowels and consonants in shaping these associations and tests whether, in conflict situations, consonantal or vocalic features have a stronger influence.

Participants are shown a word or non word, followed by a letter. They must judge if that letter was presented in the word/nonword. Typically we expect participants to be faster for letter judgements following words.
